Formerly referred to as the "Absinthe Drunken Chat" (for good reason...), I've finally decided to bring back the weekly chats starting next Tuesday at 10 PM (Eastern Time Zone).
You'll see an "Absinthe Chat" tab on the main page navigation bar very soon. It is through Chatango, which means if you don't want to deal with that bothersome registration business, you can create a temporary name in about 2 seconds and be good to go. This is also the only chat I'm aware of that has at your disposal a giant burger emoticon, so don't ask about using a "better" chat service.
We've certainly had some memorable nights in the past, including absinthe stories from our favourite buddy in China, a friendly visit from a Myspace porn star, and a couple visits from brand reps that...left the tie in the office. Homebrew and I also typically outlast the others, sometimes until 6 or 7 AM.
I'll be gauging interest the first few weeks, and depending on the response, I do have a few special events in mind. Granted we were getting pretty good turnouts before I even joined Twitter or FB I think we'll do alright.

I would use Chrome, but I don't trust Google after the GMail privacy issue (pus there's always Safari).

Turnout is pretty good tonight so far. probably around 15 or 16 people throughout the night here.
After a week of, er, forgetting about it, we will resume as usual. Reminders have been sent to the facebook absinthe group for the first time (which contains tens of thousands of members), so here's hoping for some new faces.
I tried to get on last Tues. but couldn't due to my ancient computer and dial-up. I'll try again tonight through the thread instead of the main page but I really think I'll have to upgrade programs to get on!
AGP, what internet browser do you use?
It's safari and I've tried getting the adobe flash upgrade. I have a Mac OS X. I recently got a an external modem for high speed and it has 3 plugs. How simple could that be, right!! couldn't get it to work!! I'm going to try calling tomorrow. My mac may be under the requirement. Will check it out! Enjoy the chat!
I'm running MAc OS X and Safari as well, so it should work. Hmm, otherwise, you could try Firefox, that's also a pretty reliable browser.

Holy crap! It's lunchtime here and I saw a tweet from Ben saying that the chat was still going... since 10PM and it's now 8AM their time! It was the first time I've participated since the time zone thing is usually not in my favour.

Well, I've been told I have phone line issues, probably within the house, since we've been having issues since we tore down some partial wall dividers! Hopefully things will be worked out week after next, so maybe I'll be able to join you all then!
I am going to try in pop in tomorrow night as well. Havent been able to be around much but finally getting caught back up with stuff so maybe I can come back around more. Hope to see most of you tomorrow night
